Idea Cafe

On 18th April Idea Cafe was organised by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Leadership of BITS Pilani. It was a brain-storming session conducted by Mr. Pradeep Sethi, an alumnus of BITS and a successful entrepreneur himself.

He started off with a little exercise which tickled our brains. He gave us small riddles and brain-teasers to show us that a problem can be approached in different ways(which involved "thinking out of the box" and "broad thinking"). Then we all "put on our thinking caps" and the mass idea-generation started. There was one idea per person and we got almost upto 50 ideas. Everyone had an idea of their own- from Selling Indian Cultures and Graphic/Animation to Automatic Moving Dustbins(AMDs) and Food-ATMs! After that, the ideas were filtered depending on some criteria like cost and time of implementation, legal issues and technicality of the idea(whether the technology/process to implement the idea almost immediately exists or not). Around 20-25 ideas passed through the filter. Then other factors of the ideas were considered and all of them wereput to vote. The most popular ideas went to the finals. These, in the order of their popularity, are:

1. Laundry Service - Mythili

2. Pest Control - Ambarish

3. Ads on a Rickshaw - Neeti

4. Household workers bank - Ajay Bhise

5. Sarcastic Newspaper - Brijesh

The owners of these ideas were made to choose people to be in their team and Mr. Sethi discussed what is to be done next-how to go about the idea in developing it into a start-up. Finally, when it was time to go, we presented Mr. Sethi with a memento(photo-frame). Then he requested for a group-photo so that he could cherish the memory.

A lot of creative ideas and solutions came up during the session. It was a good experience for all those who were present as well as the organisers.

P.S. My idea was to open an "Architecture Consultancy" which takes care of A-Z of buildings - from the way it is built to interior decorating.Anyone interested??

"Journey" of Life

Last night, feeling down for something, I set off on a wild bike ride.(well, you cant be that wild here in Pilani!!but still...) I had only one thing in mind--go anywhere but do NOT turn back.Great journey, took me places.I was lost then turned left then right then two more lefts....
Some part of the journey was kinda creepy--no street lights on a road, the road was not good, and there was a haunted-looking house too(gates were open,no lights inside and absolutely wild surroundings!)I resolved to go and look into that place in the daytime some day. Then I came to a place which reminded me of my childhood(it was a park behind SAC-Student Activity Center).I got lost and did not end up in a place I wanted to,so I just went ahead and took a different route and finally ended up where I actually wanted to.
At the end of the journey,I realised it was similar to the journey which everyone takes--the Journey of Life. You can go places but you can't turn back. You come across lots of different stuff on your life(places, landmarks).Sometimes some instances make you want to go back in time, you actually can become a child again. You might not end up as what you wanted to,but if you work towards it and try harder again, you will definitely succeed.

Last but not the least, you can do lots of interesting things if you have a bike(and draw conclusions from the simplest and stupidest things! ;))

Best Birthday Ever

Well, I'm 18 now!I'm an adult!!!

This is one of the phrases you get to hear a lot and sometimes even tell people to simply bug them(if you actually are) once someone's just entered the "big" world.True,18 really is a significant number in terms of age, and I for once expected a lot that day.So imagine my disappointment when it didn't go the way I wanted it to.The reason?A bad bad math test the next day dampened it all!(I didnt give the math test, but that's a different story)But I found out something:I do have the world's greatest wing and the BESTEST friends anyone could ever have.

It started out quite well with the mid-night birthday bash and all.I wished it would remain like that all day,but no.Guess what?!My SIM is blocked for 3 hours that morning.Damn.[people,don't experiment when you really need something the most.do it when you are absolutely vella.]Okay,no problem.Got it unblocked. Then you realize you can't do whatever you want or spend time with your best friends because there is a test the next day! What a great day!!To top it all,you fall sick at the end of the day.Nice way to close a birthday!

But then turns out things are not bad after all.Even after this,it's one of the best birthdays anybody could ever get!!Imagine after two days you find that you receive birthday wishes from somebody you admire, love, had a crush at 1 point of time and above all are absolutely crazy about?Isn't that great??!!That is exactly what happened to me.It made me so happy that it actually made me blog! All thanks to my wingie, best friend and twin.

So its really true and works -- all highs come with a low (and vice versa). So my 18th birthday was also special too. :)
